This month has been the kind of busy that didn’t leave much time for this blog. I did want to post the few things before the month is up, so here goes.
I used this tutorial to work on a persistence of vision rig. I’ve wanted to build a POV rig for a while, and I saw this tutorial years ago, but I’m only now getting around to it. The tutorial is for a Lilypad Arduino board and sewable LEDs, but I used an Arduino Uno & LEDs on a breadboard. I got the rig working, but I haven’t managed to take a photo yet. I’ve been experimenting with lightpainting apps & other long exposure options and will post a photo when I finally figure it out.
I also made some stamps this month. The first one was a jellyfish. I make a lot of jellyfish stamps, but they’re never quite right to me. I started this one with a drawing based on this tutorial. After I carved it, something was off about the tentacles. They work better when I color them in.
Finally, as a tribute to Leonard Nimoy, I carved a Vulcan salute stamp today.
