Today’s secret phrase is “origami crane”

I went to a bookstore today to pick up Shonda Rhimes’ new book, Year of Yes. While I was in the store, I saw an origami kit for sale that embraced the adult coloring book trend. The intent was for people to color the origami paper, then fold the paper into models. I’m not personally into adult coloring books (though I know a lot of people who enjoy them), but I loved the idea of drawing on paper squares to fold. I wanted to see how it would look, so I doodled on some squares & folded them up:

Origami cranes have been a theme in general this week, though until today, I hadn’t finished anything. I also made a crane stamp using a photo I took of a crane I made as a reference. This worked out well, which I appreciate, because I’ve never been successful drawing cranes freehand. I ended up stamping some muslin using fabric ink, mostly because I’m not sure where my stamp pads are right now and I knew where a tube of fabric ink was. I’m glad I did, because I’m happy with how the sample turned out.
