I finished two projects this week: a pair of fingeress gloves for my mom and a crochet ball made of granny squares and triangles. My mom asked me to make her some fingerless gloves to keep her hands warm while she does her handcrafting. I broke my #CreateNovember rules for the gloves by buying the […]

Today’s secret phrase is “origami crane”
I went to a bookstore today to pick up Shonda Rhimes’ new book, Year of Yes. While I was in the store, I saw an origami kit for sale that embraced the adult coloring book trend. The intent was for people to color the origami paper, then fold the paper into models. I’m not personally […]
One third down…
It’s been a while since my last post, but I’m still trucking on the doing something creative every day front. I’ve mostly been crocheting, though I have done some prep work on some other projects. I’ve made a lot of progress on the afghan for my living room including adding a burgundy to the color […]
Tuesday Plarn
I’ve been noticing lately that I’ve acquired a lot of Barnes & Noble plastic bags. I don’t like throwing them away for two reasons: 1) it’s bad for the environment to throw plastic bags away. 2) Barnes & Noble bags are very sturdy, and I like to use them for other things. I decided to […]
Yellow & Grey Make Blanket

Happy Pi Day (of the century, no less)
March 14 is Pi Day. This year is even more fun because it’s 2015, so: 3.1415. Take time of day into account, and it gets even *more* fun than that. As my contribution to the parade of Pi Day projects, here’s a cartoon π eraser stamp I made while watching Darren Aranofsky’s π:
February Round-Up
This month has been the kind of busy that didn’t leave much time for this blog. I did want to post the few things before the month is up, so here goes.
Weekend Project: Octopus Print
This weekend’s project was a linocut of an octopus. It’s carved from a 12″ x 12″ piece of unmounted linoleum. I started with a pencil drawing on the linoleum, which I then carved.
Paper Lights
I’ve been using Jie Qi’s paper circuits lessons from the MIT High Low Tech group for workshops for a while. I have a workshop coming up soon, so I wanted to brush up on paper circuits. I bought LEDs for the workshop that are too small for the group I’m using them with, so I’m […]
